The cable way towards Sněžka, the highest summit in the Czech Republic, was build in 1949 by the Czech company Transporta with the licence from the Swiss company Von Roll. Despite it was supposed to be in operation for 17 years only, the final lifespan was 60 years. In 2014 the new cable way was build with the boarding station moved approximately 150 metres down the hill. Due to the fact that the technology of the original cable way is the only preserved example in the Czech Republic, it has been decided to preserve some of its components. A new museum will be created in the building of the former downhill station as an example of technology of its time. Important component of the museum is the approach path linking the new and original station. This trail is an integral part of the cableway museum and contains an exposition of mountain landscape elements. The path becomes a hybrid of a lane and exposition.

Part of the museum is an educational journey linking the new and original cable car station. This trail is an integral part of the cableway museum and contains an exposition of mountain landscape elements. Trail is a hybrid of communication and exposure.
